This is what happends when companies do not take security serious. Too many
times companies rely on security by obscurity techniques, which never
works. Or they they do not push vendors to fix their security immediately.

Well, that article is informative. I like the "broken English" part - it
seems to imply something positive. Please post back when the data actually
appears on the black market.

What exactly is that supposed to mean? Is it that English is not the persons
first language so therefore they can't be knowledgeable? How ignorant of
you.

First broken English or not, this has been going on for sometime. If you
never have heard of it, or did not know it was going on, then you are the
ignorant one and obviously do not folllow true computer security closely
beyond "Patch management" techniques. There is much more to computer
security than patch management...

Open up your mind and your ears you just might learn something. Then again,
judging you from the "Broken English" racist comment, you probably can not
learn much as your ignorance is woven too deeply into your back woods
hillbilly mind....

What a waste of time this reply was...

Interesting read, but understated last line - companies that outsource
need to assess the potential costs from such a breach cf the savings.
Since day one I have (tried to) avoid on-line credit card use, not
due to mistrust in the technology but due to doubt in the skill of
those running it and/or the companies' will to invest sufficiently
to "do it right".

I do not have the link to hand, but somewhere a month-plus back
a report on the net surfaced of a website payback scheme that
worked apparently much like the banner-advertising revenue model,
except the payout was for the number of machines that became 'bot'ed
due to drive-by exploitation of browser vulnerability. Someone is
paying for quantities of 'bot'ed systems?

You said he had a "backwards hillbilly mind". There is a geographical area
associated with that decription,...just wondering if you think he is from
that geographical area.

The term Hillbilly is not tied to a geographical location. It in fact
implies living outside of a established community. What does this have
anything to do with the original post.

Aren't *all* names ethnic? What would be a non-ethnic name?

I guess that really is defined by one's reference. An ethnic name really
equates to a name from another ethnicity from one's own.

In article <#y0MAFUfFHA.484@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl>, in the

That's going to be kind of tough.

So this isn't a private NNTP news group, and there's no such thing as an
NNTP listserve [sic]. Listservers use email protocols, not NNTP.

You might want to check where you actually are prior to posting Susan.
These are the public news groups.

It is not important where he is from. The point is that racial slurs do not
belong in a technology newsgroup. I take offense as I am sure others do
too.

> Imhotep? Can you sign with your real name and your real email address?

No. It is not important who I am.

Again, his racial slur is not welcomed....
