Weird Start Menu problem in WinXP: shortcuts in "All Programs" hidden behind gray

Hi all,

I have a weird problem with Windows XP: When opening the Start menu,
and selecting the point "All Programs", the menu of shortcuts pops up
all right; however, the part of the shortcuts falling within the
boundaries of the main start menu are hidden behind a solid gray area
- as if the main start menu "covers" the menu points. However, when I
move the mouse pointer over the menu points, each menu point touched
is revealed. It looks a little bit like a refresh problem.

Does anybody have a clue to what can be wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

L. Hummel, Denmark

I would say that it was a refresh problem too. Saw this now and then with
an ATI card with 32MB video ram. Always seemed to clear up with a restart
but was an unwelcome interruption to work flow. ATI releases new drivers on
a regular basis and usually have the most current version installed. Some
driver versions were better than others at keeping this problem away.

Updated to a different ATI card (256MB) and this no longer occurs.
