TROJAN HORSE

I need some help with getting rid of a Trojan Horse. The name I got from
Symantec was: C27D8FEF-D7AE-42c0-82E6-F30598265639.exe.
Everytime I copy and paste this stirng in my browswer, I get that it is a
worm. But Symantec lists it as a Trojan Horse. Either way, can someone help
me to get rid of this virus? Do I need to update my registry? I have turned
off my System Resore feature thus far.
My computer problems are that when I turn on my computer, it takes about 5
minutes for my icons to appear on my desktop. Everything is soooooooooo
slow. Even for me to open up Microsoft Word takes about 3 minutes. It's
ridiculous.
Whenever it comes to the registry, I get real nervous because I don't want
to mess up my computer. Any advice?

Check here:
Malware Cleaning :
http://kgiii.info/windows/all/malwarefix.html
Pay attention mostly to the safe mode part of the page which will make it
easier to cleaning out the mess. As for disabling system restore that's not
always the best thing to do. You might want to re-enable it so that you have
a place to fall back on should cleaning cause problems.

Actually, Symantec shows it as a worm: W32.MyTob.BC@mm to be precise
Do you use Symantec antivirus or another?
You can display info on the mass mailing worm you have from the page below &
it will also give you instructions (mid to bottom of page) on how to get rid
of it manually - very easy.

I hope this helps

Sassy if after deleting the Trojan, or whatever has infested your computer
you still have the problem that you described: slow to appear icons, you may
try one or more of these fixes.
DELETE the file named shelliconcache (no extension). It will recreate
itself the next time you boot up.
Instrucions for this are here:
http://forums.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-48700.html
INCREASE SIZE OF shelliconcache: Download "IconCache Fix" from here:
http://aumha.org/regfiles.php
Download Tweak UI from here
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp
You can use this to "Fix" icons.
Of course first thing you must do is get rid of the Trojan or whatever.
Good luck
