I'm running two GeForce 6600 PCIe video cards on an MSI K8N Diamond
motherboard (AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+). These are not SLI cards so SLI
is disabled. (DxDiag.txt => http://www.darklightbrigade.net/misc/DxDiag.txt)
When I install either KB885828 OR KB887979 (together or separately) they
cause my second PCIe video card to stop working.
In hardware manager it has a yellow splat next to it and no resources are
allocated to the device. As soon as I run a system restore to any point
before either one of these patches are installed my video begins working
after the reboot. No matter what combination i install them in (both one at a
time, both together, or just one of them) the second video card stops
working. No amount of updating, adding, or removing drivers resolves the
problem. Once these patches are removed video immediately returns to normal.
It took me a bit to figure out what was causing the problem. Hope this helps
anyone else that might be having this problem.
