I cannot get the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1
Service Pack 1 (KB886903) to install. Does anyone know how to get this
install to take?

FrankieG again, I've tried everything I can think of over the past 3 weeks to
get this update to install. I've uninsalled and reinstalled .NET Frameworks a
dozen times. I've tried installing it with all my protection on and with some
or all of it off. Nothing seems to work. The update keeps trying to install
(since June 29th) but comes back with a message saying unable to install with
no reason, no error message and no alternative. My 2 desktops, also running
XP Pro, SP2 installed this update without a hitch. Does anyone know how to
get rid of this beast. Thanks

I am also unable to get security update for Microsfot .NET framework 1.1
Service Pack 1 on my WinXP machine. It comes up with Error Code: 0x643 .

Jay & FrankieG,

Sorry not to have the solution to your problems as I'm having the same
issues. The .NET Framework v1.1 security update installed OK on a couple of
my Windows XP Pro SP2 PCs but I just can't get it to install on another one
of them. As per FrankieG's comments I've also un-installed and then
re-installed the .NET Framework software and then re-tried to install the
security update and I still get the "Installation Failed" with an error code
of "0x643".

I've lodged a request for help with the Microsoft Support Centre and pointed
them to this Discussion Group thread.

I'll let you know if I get a successful response !
