Windows xp starts normally,I can log on normally. But there are no access to
any applications or to control panel etc. Everything gives a message with
"not responding".
Can you please help me.

Greetings,

It might be a case of spyware, adware, malware or even virus/trojan
related. First of all try scanning your computer from any spyware related
programs. Try the following programs:

1. SpyBot Search and Destroy - http://security.kolla.de/ (Recommended)
2. Adware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
3. Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta 1 (Use at your own risk) -
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

If still doesn't go well, try scanning your computer from viruses or
trojans. Trend Micro Systems offers a free online scan which scans for the
latest trojans and viruses on the internet. URL -
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If you already have an anti-virus scanner installed, try updating your
latest definitions and patterns and scan your computer.

Do you log in to a domain at the office? Did this problem start
immediately when running at home?
