Windows Update Error 0x80072F76
When I try to access widows update I get the following message...
" [Error number: 0x80072F76]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view...."
I have regularly used this facility to update my XP [home] SP2 laptop
without previous problems and do not see any other problems with my machine
at present.
Any ideas?

Have you installed some web accelerator? If so, disable it.
If this doesn't work, Start > Run and type in this lines hitting <Enter> key at each end:
net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
net start wuauserv
When done, restart Windows and go again to WU.

Hello Jose, I have the same problem as Eric, I followed your instructions but
still no update page. What is a web accelerator?

A web or Internet accelerator, also known as High Speed Access
(NetZero's HiSpeed or Juno's Speedband, for example), is what some
ISP's advertise to "speed up" your dial-up access for an extra fee.
The ones I've seen advertised claim a 5X speed up over normal dial-up
speeds for about $3.00 to $5.00 per month extra. This "speed"
increase is for loading webpages and does not affect upload/download
speeds.
Basically, it's a cache of websites you frequent so they load faster,
which creates its own set of problems when the cache holds an older
copy of a page that has been updated.
