"Failed" is the message when I try to install updates

I use Windows XP Pro and have it programmed for automatic updates and
installation. The icon at the bottom of the page tells me there are updates
avail but when I try to install them (which should have been done
automatically) I get a list of the 10 updates -- each one followed by the
word "failed". Some of these say they are critical security updates. Any
idea how I can get them to install? Two calls to Customer service reps left
me with no answers. They suggested you. Great company.

Try manually downloading the updates from the Catalog and installing the same
