Check out the link above for a fix for your problem. It has something to do
with security settings in either IE or Zone Alarm, if that is your firewall
provider.

I got the same error number, but I don't have zone alarm as a firewall. I
went to the web page you suggested, and I guess I am hesitant to pay for
something I don't know will work. Any other suggestions or ideas?

Stephanie,

If you have a web accelerator or dial-up accelerator, turn it off before
going to windows update, it should be working.

Scroll down to and click on the link for "While the Windows Update Web site
is loading, you receive Initialization Error 0x80072F76".

Make sure you haven’t got anything blocking Windows Update like Nortons, Zonealarm
etc
Also make sure you don’t have a Web Accelerator working in the background such as
NetZerio, HiSpeed, Speedband etc.
