1. I've followed instructions on this group to address this problem.
2. I've followed instructions as per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;836926
3. When I attempt to start Automatic Update and BITS service I get error 5,
access denied... obviously permissions still ain't right.
4. If I try and register 'wuaueng.dll' registration fails. All other dll
registrations (wucltui.dll, wuapi.dll and wuaueng1.dll) succeed.

hi all
tristan here experiencing a similar problem to CJG,

After downloading the update for windows update v5 to v6 the page returned
the 0x80070005 error and the following was logged in the windows update log
file; any help would be greatly appreciated...
Also i am running Windows XP service pack 2 (already installed when
purchased computer). Previously i was encountering a 0x80004015 error! and
could not download any windows updates.
