Crafty Bob,
Which updates will not download ? Which version of XP are you using ?
Open the WindowsUpdate.log located in the WINDOWS directory with Notepad
and copy&paste the last 20-30 lines of it into your response, please.

I have the same problem!!!! (except mine is just error 8024600A ) seems no
has heard of this error code but you and me. cant find it on google,
anywhere on Microsoft's help and I havent heard from Microsoft help either
(other than a email that acknowleges they got my question and that they will
reply in 1 business day) I'm still hoping to hear from them, sent problem
yesterday. If I hear from them I will post response here. I posted a
question yesterday on here but today I cant find it even with the search.
this forum is very very hard to nagavate through... windows are too big, hard
to find anything at all comparitively speeking to other help forums i mean.
suprisingly poor structure for a company as big as Microsoft (maybe its just
me) anyway if you find a solution or fix please post it so I can use it, I
will do the same. I have this question posted on Newbie.org
http://www.newbie.org/help/index.php?showtopic=793&hl=
and the tech guys

(subject: "SP2 will not install" by sirgregory1st)
no help there yet (waiting for responses) but I am willing to bet, will get
more help there than here... suprisingly much better and faster help on those
forums than from Microsoft

Crafty Bob,
Did you see Taurarian's post ? Am thinking that this entry :
2005-05-26 17:28:02+0100 836 6f0 DM: SetNotifyInterface failed with
0x80080008.
is related to malware ( trojan, worm, spy|adware etc. )
To determine if that is the underlying cause, please read this :
The Parasite Fight - Quick Fix Protocol
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Once you've determined that the system is free of all "unwanted
software", revisit Windows Update, and see if the updates can be downloaded.

I had the same problem and really struggled a lot. But then Windows Installer
3.1 installed when I pressed custom update instead of express update, so
maybe you can also try it out.
