I appear to be one of many people at the moment suffering from Windows Update
failure!

Yesterday (15th June) I tried to do a manual update from the update site
only to be conftronted with a error message 0x80245003 for which Microsoft
have no record of, I subseqently found what appeared to be a fix for this by
viewing other people in the news group that had had similar problems. The fix
appeared to work but now when I try to do the update it gets to 25% and then
just hangs. Has anybody got any more info on whats going on?

Which version / edition of Windows is this on?
