I know on a v6 *WU* system it's not automatic; you will see a notice on the
right side of the screen advertising the new MU though. So it's reasonable
to assume that v5 to v6 isn't automatic either.

Thanks for the reply,
but you see the advertising on V5 or V6 ?
In my v5 there is nothing.

B.regards

Tks for the reply.
Yes I know that I can force it.
What I'd like to know if this redirection will be automatically applied in
the near future or not.

Best regards

I've seen it advertised on a v6 system. In the future though, MS could make
it automatic on all systems for all we know, it's impossible to say.

Hi,

We are in the process of rolling out the new V6 Windows Udpate site to our
customers. We are doing a staged proccess starting with Windows 2003
Server. Windows XP will start to automaticly upgrade to the new V6 site
Monday and take about 3 to 4 weeks to upgrade all Windows XP Systems. In
the mean time you can choose to upgrade yourself to the new site by going to
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate.

We have also released
Microsoft Update

a.. Microsoft Update is a new service offered at no charge that gives
customers everything they get through Windows Update (WU), plus high
priority updates for Office and other Microsoft applications. It's a
one-stop destination for updates that help keep your computer more secure,
up-to-date, and performing at its best. MU includes the Automatic Updates
functionality already found in WU so users can choose to automatically
install high-priority updates.

a.. MU provides a unified infrastructure for Windows Server Update
Services, Systems Management Server and the Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer 2.0 to deliver updates for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server
2003, Office (XP+), Exchange (2000+) and SQL (2000+ w/SP4). MU ensures
consistency across these Microsoft's software management solutions.

· Customers wishing to Opt-in to MU may do at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/microsoftupdate/default.mspx

Thank you

Hello Eric,

We appreciate your posting this.
Is it safe to say, that until either this rollup occurs, and unless a user
visits V6, their Auromatic Update "module" will remain to be the older V5
version? But they also still get all critical & high priority updates.

Best to you.
