I have recntly manged to install a new hdd and reinstall my xp os but there
are no standard icons on the desk top any ideas?

From the Control Panel Display applet, Desktop tab, click on the
Customize Desktop button. You will be able to choose which system icons
appear on your Desktop.

Hi, Foss.

You may have forgotten since you first installed WinXP, but that's the way
it is. After a fresh install, the only icon on the Desktop is the Recycle
Bin. See Malke's message for how to display the others.
