I have notived that in task manager was a program called xpupdate02.exe that
if i try to open a full screen program it minimizes it. It has nothing to do
with windows XP as i can close it without problems. I would normally just
delete it but i cannot find where it is located in c:\windows it is not there
even under the administrator account in safe mode. any suggestions would be
appreciated as after i even end the task it restarts itself.

This sounds like a likely rogue program. Do a full anti-malware check on your system.

Use a clean pc to download cleanup tools, put on CD or DVD, and use on infected machines.
I recommend an article at Aumha.org on ways to cleanup parasites.
Follow the quick-fix protocol.

Keep in mind you may well have to do cleanups while in Safe Mode of Windows (tap F8 at pc bootup).
