You can try doing the scan in safe-mode. Mash the F8 key on boot-up and
select safe mode. Run AV programs.
Best,

Hi strobe2, I suggest you post your message in the Security Virus section.
There are loads of experts there that will pick up on your request and help
you. I know it works coz I used their help just the other day. You could
look at some of the questions - e.g "Unknown Virus" and you will find
suggestions and solutions in the replies that should resolve your problem.
Enjoy! CT04

Clicking noises are very often caused by a hd problem - imminent failure
possible.
Suggest you also visit hd manu.site and download their hd checking utility

Did you try running the scan in Safe Mode, or from a boot device?

If your refering to hd checking utility, they are usually available from the
hd manu.web site.
ie specific to the hd installed on your PC, if nothing else hardware devices
should indicate the manu.of your hd.

I think "hd manu.site" is shorthand for "hard drive manufacturer's
website." Each of the manufacturers offer their own utilities that test
their drives. The tests are designed to detect errors with the hardware,
create reports of the drive's health and/or to warn of impending failure.
