System freezes

I have a Sony VAIO, Windows XP Home SP2. All of a sudden tonight my
system will freeze up every so often. Can't move cursor.
Alt-Ctl-Del won't work. Have to power off and restart.

Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it? Hardware? Software?

Thanks
Stan

Hi

Are you using any particular program when the freeze happens, or is it
completely random? Have a look in the Event Viewer to see if any error
entries in there may help to point towards the problem.

Memory and/or Driver problems come to mind.

Make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for all components on your
system.

You may also want to try one or a few of the many memory testing programs
available for free on the web.
