I have had to system recovery my computer because of a corrupt file in the
"C:\Windows" file. Now I need to get Service Pack 2 and get on Windows
Update. Now I cannot install the newer version of Windows Update. I click the
Install and it takes me to a screen saying "Windows Update is downloading and
installing the updated software."
It says that and begins going up to 100% on Registering.
Can someone please help me!!!!

You might install xp cd,exit the info page,go to run,type:cmd In cmd
type:Sfc /Scannow When its thru,type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,
then type:EXIT Restart computer,remove cd.Thiers actually a newer version
of update,try in IE,adress,type:http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/
v6/default.apsx?in=en-us
You were trying v5 update,this is v6
