I'm having problems with a driver downloaded for Windows Update, the driver
is VIA Technologies Inc. - Networking - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter.
The attemps to install it always fail... and everytime that I restart my
laptop a Windows update reminder tells me "A new update is ready to install"
or something like that, but always fail to do it...
How can I get off this driver update?

Can you tell me how fix it for a succesfully instalation of the driver?

Don't get driver updates from WU. Get them from the device
manufacturer's Websites and then only if it cures a problem you have or
it has a new feature you must have. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I get the same error code when WU tries to install a graphics driver update
that I already installed direct from the manufacturer - so I'd hazard a guess
that the error message has something to do with not finding a version it
expects to update.

To stop it coming up all the time, go choose "Custom install" and deselect
the check box next to it. It should then offer you the chance of not being
bothered again about the update.
