error 0x80072F05

tried running the windows update page and this error message came up.
0x80072fo5 any ideas what it means and how to solve it. any help or ideas
would be appreiciated

Hello Tracey,
Take a look at this MS Article, especially the section on SSL Certificates.

Would you post back with how far you had gotten into the W U process before this error came up ?
And if you still have a problem, post back with the lines out of the log for the failed session.
Look for file WindowsUpdate.log in your C:\Windows folder ( or it may be C:\WINNT on your system).
Use Notepad or Wordpad to open & view contents. Scan down to the very bottom. Look at the set of lines for that last session-date.
Copy the set of lines for that last session-date & paste back into a reply in here.

thank you so much, tried what you suggested and it worked. Im now able to use
the windows update.
