Internet Explorer 6 Installation Failure

Before I executed a partial system recovery (without reformating the hard
drive) I was able to download and install IE 6 on my Windows ME system.
However, my recovery efforts replace IE 6 with IE 5.5 and Outlook Express 5.
Efforts to download/install IE 6 have not been a success. A message window
appears indicating that IE 6 components were not installed. Another window
appears and invites me to resume or restart the installation. Resuming or
restarting setup results in the same problem. Any suggestions for an average
user will be appreciated.

It is not really a problem with Windows Update and you may do better
with the windowsme.general newsgroup. There should be someone there
familiar with the problem of reinstalling ME without uninstalling IE6
first.
