I have some type of virus that is sending a ton of email to my inbox. Does
anyone know what it is and/or can help me remove it?

Thanks in Advance!

A variation of SOBER. You opened the attachment. Get
STINGER to fix it, free from McAfee
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

You should pay a little attention to the news on Yahoo, MSN,
Fox and Google, these virus attacks are reported. Also you
should update and run your anti-virus full time. Also read
the news on the anti-virus sites www.mcafee.com and
www.sarc.com

It may be a variation of SOBER but *I* opened no attachments
and my system is clean. (I checked. Twice.)

And yet I'm still getting these emails. Though not as many
or as frequently as a few days ago.

Just getting an email means that the SOBER virus is on one
or more computers that also have your email address in the
addressbook. Getting a hundred emails trying to sell Vi
Agra (v I A G R A), car insurance, credit cards, naked
pictures, just means that your email works but isn't
filtering those emails. The virus portion may or may not
have been removed or cleaned by the ISP.

My policy is to delete ALL email that has no subject, a
subject that is not of real interest. I don't open
attachments unless it is something I expect and have asked
for. I scan everything. My Hotmail accounts are set to
filter junk at a high enhanced setting and all that goes to
the deleted folder.

If you are not infected, you will still get the emails. The worm on
infected computers searches for email addresses on the hard drive and the
address book, and sends them, mostly with spoof from addresses.

We all get them, all the time.

Thanks for the input! Is there no way to get rid of it completely?

Thanks
Chad

Disconnect from the Internet will stop emails from arriving
in your computer. A current and up to date anti-virus
program, message rules in POP email accounts can stop much
of this stuff.
