I just installed WSUS, set up Group Policies to put computers in groups
everything looks like it is working correctly untill I checked the event log.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Server Update Services
Event Category: Synchronization
Event ID: 364

Description:
Content file download failed. Reason: The requested resource requires user
authentication.
Source File:
/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowsinstaller-kb893803-v2-x86_830994754ba721add8a13bd0266d2e092f21cab0.exe
Destination File:
d:\WSUS\WsusContent\B0\830994754BA721ADD8A13BD0266D2E092F21CAB0.exe.
When I check WSUS none of the update files have been downloaded yet the
syncronization succeded!
Any help would be appreciated.

Does your network use a proxy server or an ISA server?

Proxy, If I set up the proxy the syncronization fails every time.

Jay,

The only other thing I could think of is that the updates WILL NOT D/L until
approved. They will syncronize, but won't download. Are the updates you are
looking at approved for install or just "detect only". I hope maybe that's
what it is. That will be an easy fix for you.

Yes I have all updates auto update the test group. I am investigating your
first question. I am in touch with the Admin of the Firewall to get a hole
punched for the update web sites. Remove that possibility.
