Hi LOUIE,

Go to the Windows Update site, wait for it to check for the latest version
of the Windows Update software, then click on the "View installation
history" link in the left sidebar. You should the see the View Installation
History columns. Beside the Update Name for each failed update, you should
see "Failed" in the Status column. Click on the "Failed" link, and it will
give you further information concerning the failure of the update to install
(hopefully including an error code). Post a reply that contains the
information obtained from clicking on the "Failed" link.

Regards,

Patti

You seem to be helping everyone else, hope you can help me. HD crash, now
updating SP1 3 Hrs. ago downloaded 20 patches, all installed but 1, I
believe the one that failed was a .NET

Since then, I'm having the same no response issue with WU.

I've tried your "run" suggestions, I've tried downloading new version of
Java, I've tried emptying the DataStore and Download folders.

Nothing so far has worked. Any other suggestions ?

Hi Tim,

Take note of the date and time just prior to accessing the Windows Update
site. After attempting to connect to the site and receiving "the same no
response issue", close Windows Update site. Now, navigate to the C:\Windows
folder and open the WindowsUpdate.log file (you may notice that there are 2
log files for Windows Update.........open the one where WindowsUpdate is
displayed as one word in the filename). Copy the entries in that file that
match the date and time for which you took note (they will be at the bottom
of the file). Paste these entries into a reply or into a new post (I would
very highly recommend creating a new post for the problem that you're
experiencing, as others who frequent this newsgroup and who may be able to
provide assistance to you will probably never see your posting while it
remains buried within another's thread).

Regards,
