1033

Good Morning

I've recently been using both Outlook and Outlook Express.

The first for emails, the second for newsgroups, but find incoming messages
spread between the two, so decided to set up news in Outlook.

That worked OK once, now the tab "News" takes me to a folder "1033."

Has anyone any idea what is wrong and how to fix?

TIA

Hi Pat,

This may take some work to find the problem. It may be caused by a 3rd-party
app/Outlook add-in or (less likely) an anti-virus program or other cause
unknown, but that is only conjecture. It may be helpful to know the version
of Outlook in use. The question would best be asked in an Outlook newsgroup.

As for your e-mail being split between both mail programs,

Mail gets downloaded into whatever mail program you run. When using a POP3 mail server,
by default all messages are deleted from the server after downloading, leaving nothing for
another mail program to get.

You need to do any ONE of the following:
- Stop running Outlook Express
- Run OE in a news-only mode (which is what the "Outlook newsreader function does)
Command Line Options for Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=177233
- Remove the mail account in OE (Tools, Accounts, Mail)
- Tell OE not to download mail (Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, General - uncheck the
include this account in send and receive)
- Tell OE to leave messages on the server (Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced)
