Remove a program from the add/remove list

I suppose this is a question already answered but I didn;t find any post
that could help me.
Even though I removed a program it is still in the control panel's
add/remove programs list. How can I get rid of it?
Thanks
Jimmy

See the information here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314481
Follow the instructions carefully as you will be editing the registry.

---------------

This is such a common problem, so frequently asked about, that you'd hope
Microsoft will address it with a better way to remove programs from the list.

Did you perhaps mean the "Registry Pruner 2.5"? I don't see anything there
Karen describes as Add/Remove Pro.

It isn't Microsoft's fault. It is whoever wrote the crappy uninstall
program or feature in the first place.

I'd personally say that if it's shipped as part of XP, then Microsoft owns the
problem whether they contracted out the writing of it or not.

I believe Wesley was referring to the third party app the poster was having
trouble removing not the Add or Remove Programs applet.

The 3rd party application is what I was referring to.

Why would anyone uninstall Add or Remove Programs (appwiz.cpl). Although
you can remove access to it. ;-)

Ahh... That makes more sense.

It is there because it can find an uninstaller. If the application uninstaller is missing then Add Remove offers to remove the entry but in this case the file is there so as far as it knows everything is ok.

Many uninstallers are exactly the same program, and in the past programs tended to dump them in the Windows directory. Install two programs ...

So the uninstaller either failed or didn't remove itself.
