Problem using reply
Wonder if anyone could help. If I send an email to someone and they send
one back using reply, I don't get the email. If they send creating a new
email that is fine.
TIA

That would imply that YOUR account settings are wrong. Have a look at
tools>accounts>mail>properties and check both the email address and
reply to address.
(In THEIR address book you are listed correctly which is why they can
send ok like that, but not when hitting the reply button.)

Thanks Kath,
I have tried that sorry should have said that I have been setting up emails
for nearly 10 years without any problems (well like this), but I never come
across this before. Virus (Norton 2005 and updated) checker does not detect
anything. It also works ok if I send myself an email and then reply to the
same one and works ok with OE6 and Hotmail (settings in HM). In fact this
has just started to happen only within then last couple of weeks. Bloody
thing!!!! : )
Cheers Pete

Pete,
It might also mean that the recipient may be using a spam filtering
application that changes the SUBJECT: Line of the message, such as adding
the word "SPAM" to it. Then when they reply to or forward the message, the
word "SPAM" is left in the SUBJECT: Line, and your spam or rule filters are
catching the message, and deleting the reply to or forwarded message, as you
have it set up in OE and the Spam filter program. So you should open and
check the Deleted Items folder, to make sure that it not sent there. You
need to make sure that your friend checks the subject line before replying
to or forwarding messages.
Another thing that you can do is create a message rule in OE, to handle the
message, before message goes through to SPAM filter message rules. This rule
should be placed ***ABOVE*** Spam filter rules in OE. The rule would look
something like this:
1. When message arrives and the From: line contains friendsname@isp.com
2. Move to Friends folder (That you create under local folders). If you do
not add this action, then the message should be placed in the INBOX folder
when the message arrives.
3. Stop Processing More Rules ****Very Important that you add this
action****
Another thing you might consider, if you have Spam filter rules based on
subject line, and have the action, "Delete from Server", change that
temporarily to DELETE it, so you can check for messages from your friend,
and see if the above rule is processing the messages properly from them.

No seems like everyone that replies to a email I send ( they do not have to
be an existing contact, this can happen to new contacts ), I do not
receive.
Thanks
Pete

What do you have in the Reply field of your Mail\Properties. Is it a munged email address or do you have a comma instead of a bullit. Check carefully

As Peter said, and I first suggested, it does seem as if your reply
address is not quite correct.
Try taking out the reply address if you have one set up, it's not
necessary to put one in there. I don't.
(I don't know why you were able to reply to yourself!)
The only other thing I can suggest is that you set up a new Identity,
configure your account/s in that and when and if all seems well, import
the mail from the old ID into the new, before deleting the old ID.
