SMTP authentication for BT Yahoo and OE 6
Argh!
I hope someone can provide me with an answer to this most frustrating of
problems.
Basically, BT Yahoo requires server authentication for sending e-mail which
I have sorted by going to tools>accounts>properties>server tab and then
settings next to the tick box which says "My server requires authentication".
I enter the e-mail address and password of the BT Yahoo account and it works
fine. Only problem is, when I want to send an e-mail, I have to enter the
whole lot all over again, even though "remember password" is checked!
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Tom

Hi,
Tried the link regarding "repairing" the registry key as suggested, but when
I follow the backup plan (I have Windows XP) I get to the directory:
HRKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>PROTECTED STORAGE SYSTEM PROVIDER
I select the registry key, go to FILE>EXPORT
When I try to save, it says that the selected branch does not exist, even
though I have the file highlighted.
Do you have any ideas as to why this is happening?

The identity you are presently using may be damaged. Try creating a new
identity, switch to it and set up the mail accounts and test them. If all
works, then import your mail messages into the new identity and then later
you can delete the older problem identity. You can also download pspv.exe
from this link to check what is stored in the Protected Storage files, where
you may find an incorrect password:
Protected Storage PassView v1.62: Recover Protected Storage passwords:
