An Unknown Error Has Occurred

All,

I am getting this message in a box when I start downloading headers in one
specific newsgroup. I can download a few headers (~2000) then the transfer
stops and I get the error. It does not happen in any other newsgroups, some
with more headers to download. I deleted all headers and unsubscribed, but
the error keeps happening. I looked on the Microsoft support but could not
find this specific issue. I scanned for viruses (none detected). I am
running Windows XP (w/ SP2) and IE6. I have MSN and DSL. Has anyone seen
this before? I like this newsgroup and want it back!

BTW, I forgot to mention that there is no error code with this error
message

It sounds like a problem with the newsgroup server, rather than OE. If you
give me the news account settings, I'll see what happens for me.

Are you asking for the news account name and my password?

Not your password. Just the info in Tools | Accounts | News | Properties |
All Tabs, and the particular newsgroup you are having problems with. I'll
set it up for myself and try.

I set up the newsgroup with these settings and got an error message, *Cannot
Find Host*.

Let's see if someone else comes along with an idea.

I can't find that group but I CAN find -

alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.jazz
("sounds" being the extra bit)

Maybe the group name is wrong?

Try resetting the NG. Right click on the NG name in the folder list. Then
go to Properties | Local File and click the reset button followed by the
compact button. Then go to Tools | Options | Maintenance and uncheck the
option to download xxx headers at a time. Then go back to that NG and see
if you still get the error.

This is an indicator that you've hit the 2 gig limit capability of OE
right click on the group
under local file.. hit the Remove button to remove all the old files
you already downloaded

Then compact.

No, it's not, it could be one of a number of things.

There is no need to remove "all the old files you already downloaded".
This is a rather sweeping statement. There is no "remove" button when
you right click.
