Hello Everyone,
I use Microsoft Windows XP Home, with OE 6 & IE,
on Dial up Internet service.
I have this nice to follow Info on how to increase
the Server Timeout, when click /Start/Programs, I cannot
find "Internet News" under line 1 on the following instructions.
Is there any other way to display the "News menu" in line 2?
Thanks x@y.
To increase the server timeout setting for Internet News, use the following steps:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Internet News.
2. On the News menu, click Options.
3. Click the Server tab.
4. Under News Server(s), click the news server you are using, and then click Properties.
5. On the Advanced tab, move the Server Timeout slider to the right to increase the server
timeout setting.
6. Click OK, and then click OK again.
NOTE: The maximum server timeout setting is 5 minutes.

That's almost correct.
In OE: Tools | Accounts | News | Properties | Advanced. That's where you
will find the slider to extend to 5 minutes. Do the same foe Mail. Tools |
Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. And turn of e-mail scanning in your
anti-virus if you already haven't.

Thank You Bruce,
I have set the News & my e-mail accounts to the max of 5 minutes
time out, I use Panda for an Antivirus & Firewall Program.
I have disabled the e-mail scanning option,
now I have Panda's warning pop up with the following:
"Protection level Medium" Before was "Protection level High"
Recommendation "Enable antivirus mail protection"
I can neglect the warning and see what happens.
I have read in this NG. that e-mail scanning will cause
more problems than help.
Best Regards x@y.
