First, thanks to all of you who give your time and knowledge so freely. BUT,
it's possible you don't quite realize how firmly you must take those of us
on the receiving end by the hand.
I find one area you are constantly repeating yourselves on is your firm
reccomendation against archiving mail in default folders - rather move to a
new folder created in Local Folders.
Excellent advice, and well taken by myself some time ago. However, a tad too
subtle for my overly thick head.

Yesterday Kuay Tim posted a reply to 'How to set specific folder in "inbox"
:

"I would suggest creation of your folders under Local Folders, not as a
sub-folder of the Inbox, a default OE folder."

Well, guess where this fool created his archiving folders? Correct.
As sub-folders - all recreated prior to this post.

As my old Grand Pappy used to say "you can lead a fool to water but you may
have to teach him how to drink without a cup"

Thanks again, oh Subtle Ones.

Terry

No need to recreate.
You can drag the created folders, in the folder tree, to be sub folders of
any other folder.

On behalf of the all you're welcome, Terry. Grand Pappy would be proud his

I have a prolem in such that I have over-ridden a file. I.e. I have file "a"
and File "b" and I accidentally saved file "b" on file "a". How can I
retrieve the oroginal data of file "b"

Here's a questions I can't figure out on my own (unless, of course, the
correct answer is "it's impossible".) If I create a new folder, under the
lo9cal folders, how can I make MY folder appear first in the list, before
all the default folders? (inbox, outbox, etc.) I'm sooo lazy and hate to
scroll down to my new folder :) Any way to do this?

Sorry, but the Default folders come first. (By default <g>).

You would need a disk recovery utility, such as Norton. Generally, when you save file "b"
as "a". file "a" is marked as deleted and file "b" is saved with the name of file "a".

The space formerly occupied by the old file "a" is subject to reuse at any time. All or
part of it may already be overwritten, at which point that data is lost. The longer you
wait, the more likely this will happen.

If the data happens to be a DBX file, this utility might be helpful:
