Cannot Download Messages:

Hello Everyone,
I use Windows XP Home Ed. with OE 6, & IE.
On Dial-Up Internet Service.
After installing all Windows Updates to-day.
I can no longer download Messages from a binaries
Newsgroup Website like I used to. I use the Synchronize
feature, when I click to synchronize, OE will download the
Headers as usual, but not the Body of the Messages.
When I open the Message all get:
This:
:dnews_hdr_cache1923:alt.binaries.humor.skewed:299430:news.sprint.ca:-:
My first thought was maybe the server is not working,
so I subscribed to another binaries "Pictures" Group, with the same
result, no "Body Messages"
Any Help is very Much Appreciated,
Thanks x@y.

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity
(File>Identities>Add new identity). Assuming all is well, import messages
from the old Identity before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage
Identities).
To assure a clean, troublefree install of anything (including Windows
Updates), your anti-virus application should be disabled and all other
running processes closed (e.g., IE, mail client, Office) before beginning
the install.
OE Caveats:
Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.
Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Hello PA Bear,
I my original Post I forgot to mention that everything
works fine when I log on to a text only Newsgroups, like this one.
We had our computer in the shop for Windows Updates Installation,
because I was not able to install the latest Updates, the tech
told us he removed Windows & Internet temporary files, and was able
to install Updates, I don't think he turned the Anti-Virus program off.
The system should be fairly clean, I do empty the deleted Items
often, I rarely reach a dozen and they are gone.
I have printed "Inside Outlook Express" Instructions, It is easier
for me to follow them step by step, as for compacting OE folders,
every now and then I get a little pop up window, asking if
I want OE to compact Folders "Yes" or "No" I usually answer Yes.
I have disabled Inbound & outbound E-mail & News scanning.
I use Panda Platinum 2005 Internet Security, I have noticed that
if I disable E-mail scanning It will disable also News scanning.
I am going to work on it in the next couple of days and see if I can
get those binaries downloaded.
Thank You very much for Your Help, x@y

Check with your ISP and confirm that you are supposed to be able
to download messages which contain binary data? Some news servers
have a policy which prohibits that and may enforce it by stripping the
attachments from messages before they are archived.
What you have shown us looks like part of an Xref: header.
Xref: headers only show in OE after the message body is downloaded.
To see if this is the case what you could do is either trace the NNTP
packet flow when you know OE is downloading a body (e.g. using
Ethereal) or turn on Troubleshooting logging for news (Alt-T,O,Ctrl-Backtab,w),
capture the commands it used to do a suspect download and then emulate
those commands in a telnet session with port 119 on your ISP's news server.

Thank You Robert,
First I am going to check with my ISP if they allow
that Website on my Service Package, if "Not" the Problem is
solved. And if I am supposed to receive that service,
then I will have to do more troubleshooting.
Thanks again for Your Kind reply, x@y.
