speed up search in sent items

my sent items folder has some 14000 messages
I like to keep them since often I need to remember
those messages.

Is there anyway to speed search on that folder since
takes a while?

Or just deleting and loosing them?

Edit | Find | Message. Browse to the folder and enter the info. However:

A general warning if you don't want to lose your messages in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually
become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing
mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder
regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as
empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders
manually while working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no
folders are open. Then: File>Work Offline (or double click
Working Online in the Status Bar).
File>Folder>Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

In Tools>Options>Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background
and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

Do NOT store messages in the default folders like Inbox or Sent Items.
Create a new folder as a sub folder for Local Folders for archiving. When
was the last time you compacted your messages? After moving your messages
from the default folders to newly created folders, compact. It may take
awhile but don't do *anything* until it's done.

Ok I did. Creating folders with subfolders is ok right?

Yes, except don't do it under the inbox. sent, outbox, drafts, or deleted
folders. Do it under "local folders."

It's OK to make subfolders off of default folders (although I don't do it)
because they create their own dbx files that have no effect on the folder
they're under.

Yeah, but be advised that if you delete a top level folder, then the
subfolders under it are also deleted.

You better back up that information if you don't want to lose it.

See points 2 and 3 and 6 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx

Try not to let folders get above 100 megs. in size.
