Updating folders

I have just re-installed Windows and now need to import OE files from my
backup. I have imported the Local Folders and files OK. I now need to
import NewsGroup folders and files (which doesn't seem to be facilitated).
I could re-subscribe to all my NewsGroups and download all the posts but I
would then have to select and delete many unwanted posts which seems a waste
as I have all I want already in backup.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

Newsgroups don't import. Only the account settings. I'm afraid you will have
to subscribe again.

It's messy but you can resubscribe (to create new .dbx files)
then close OE and replace the new ones with the old ones.

The problem then is trying to get OE to understand the sequence
numbers it has from the old caches. To do that you could try using
the Headers button while the Get ___ headers at a time option
is unchecked. When it already finds it has a downloaded message
in the slot it shouldn't try to download it again.

You may find the counts are wacky for quite a while (unless you use
Catch-Up) which you may find somewhat disconcerting. <eg>

Use the troubleshooting log to figure out whether it is all going
to be worthwhile or not.

Good luck
