Newbie - How do I 'unshare' contacts
Geoff Gray
07-09-2005, 11:28 PM
Within my address book I have my own set of contacts and a shared set, which
includes almost everyone on my own set. I do not share my computer with
anyone and have no need for a shared contacts list. Often, when I send an
email to a subgroup in my own list, the recipients get two copies. Although
the subgroup is only in my contacts, the members are in both lists, and I
think this may be why.
Firstly, am I correct in my assumption?
Secondly, I'd like to remove everybody from the shared contacts without
deleting them from my contacts. How do I do this?
Thanks for any help, and sorry if I'm asking a simple question. And thanks
to 'Inside OE home' for pointing me here.

Does your term "set" mean an Address Book folder? Are you asking about
Address Book's 'Shared Contacts' folder or sharing of contacts with MS
Outlook? Is MS Office or Outlook also installed?

Recipient's receiving multiple copies of messages if most often due to
scanning of outgoing mail by your anti-virus application. Disable it (and
incoming scanning, too). It provides no additional protection.

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to my contacts folder and 'Shared
Contacts', both within Address Book.
I have MS Office but not Outlook. I use AVG as an anti-virus scanner, and
will try your suggestion of disabling its outgoing message scan.
Thanks for your help.

You mean BST is not GMT +0100? Doesn't GMT = UTC?? <g,d&r....vvf>
[I hate when that happens every year! I agree with Geoff: IMHO, BST /is/
GMT/UTC +0100 and everyone else but he and I is wrong.]

I believe it's just a few minutes. So time *not* timezone.
(mhac biso's posts were the last two in the list, then Geoff's popped up
in between.)

Yes, it's another issue I have with my computer, it's about 1 hour 2 minutes
behind real life, and I haven't worked out how to change it, or why to
bother. Windows 98, so really, it's several years behind real life, just
like me!

Geoff, just double click your clock in the right hand bottom corner of
your screen. Insert the cursor in the time panel and type.
('fess up, it's just a ruse to make you feel younger really, isn't it?!)
