Please help with OE Repair!

Four months of emails disappeared from my Outlook Express account, while
thousands of others remained intact. I have downloaded several demos which
seem to indicate that the emails are still somewhere on my computer, but I
was something someone could suggest a free program that would repair my
Outlook Express and restore my thousands of lost emails. Is there a better
way? The last respondent merely referred me to a link of FAQs for common
problems, but from those to whom I've spoken, this doesn't seem to be a
common problem. I need a solution to repair my Outlook Express program.
Ideas? Anything offered would be greatly appreciated!

You should keep everything in the same thread so we know what was already
suggested.
If the messages are still present on the computer, these programs should be
able to recover them:
DBXtract: {Cost: $5.00}
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx
DBXpress: {$24.95, but much faster for large files}
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx
A general warning if you don't want to lose your messages in the future:
Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually
become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing
mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder
regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as
empty as is feasible.
After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders
manually while working *offline* and do it often.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no
folders are open. Then: File>Work Offline (or double click
Working Online in the Status Bar).
File>Folder>Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.
In Tools>Options>Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background
and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

See "Disappearing Messages! Please Help!" where I basically posted the same
information.

I was your last and only respondent.
I know of no free, /reliable/ application which would be able to
automagically recover your missing messages. DBXtract should suit your
purposes just fine, assuming recovering your messages is worth five bucks.
It is a common problem, at least for those who don't maintain their OE store
properly or regularly. To your credit, however, MS doesn't tell you much if
anything about maintaining your store.
There's nothing wrong with Outlook Express. Your problem is a damaged
identity. The links I posted earlier ("Disappearing Messages! Please
Help!") should be all you need to recover your messages and to avoid the
problem again in future.

In addition to what PABear indicated, do points 2 and 3 here:
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx and see point 4.
