OE/Hotmail issue

When I try to poll for messages through OE to my Hotmail account, I get this
message:

The server could not be found. Account: 'Hotmail', Server:
'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail,
Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12007, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0D

I also can't send messages from Hotmail though OE.

I can log onto Hotmail directly but not through OE. My Hotmail account is
not full.

Ideas please?

Here's what I do: Log into hotmail. Enter the password in the verification
picture. Sign out. Wait 2 minutes . Try again in OE.

Wait a bit. Try later. Hotmail server issue

Hi Jason,

Thanks! I'll try that since I can log-on directly to Hotmail.

Hi Peter,

Thanks so much - I will try later on, too since a server issue seems like a
logical reason!

Thanks!

1. Close OE.

2. Open OE & poll for messages.

Thanks PA Bear!

It seems to be working now - a glitch of one kind or another I guess! :-)

From the increase in the number of these threads, it seems like the problem
is reaching a crisis level of failures. It's been increasing for a couple of
weeks now, but the HotMail->OE failure rate via my network connection is
around 90% these days.

Anyway, if Microsoft is sincerely trying to sell HotMail accounts, then they
are going about it in a very funny fashion. If they are trying to
demonstrate their superior server capabilities and low, low "costs of
ownership", then it's even funnier.

Is Microsoft really so hard up for computing resources? Or maybe they've
just been overwhelmed by the spam?

This article illustrates a particular nasty attack by 3 Trojans (Glieder,
Fantibag and Mitglieder) working in concert which may well be what's
overwhelming MSN/Hotmail servers:
