Restore OE6 files from secondary dirve>

Win98SE crashed and I can't get it re-installed successfully.

I have installed a new drive, loaded Win98 and put the original drive in as
a slave. How can I get the OE files from the slave to the main identity.

Thanks

Basically, you need to locate the folder location on the old slaved drive
that contains the DBX files for your old mail. Then use Outlook Express
menu, File/Import/Messages/OE6 and point to the location of the folder
containing the DBX files. See the info at this link for added info:

Thanks, Jim, for the help, Unfortunately I'm not the "sharpest tool in the
shed". I went to insideoe but couldn't find anything relating to this
particular issue. I tried to use the import function from OE on the new
drive by selecting "other identity" and selecting the stores folder ( *.dbx
flies). I get an error stating that "...all items could not be imported to
the inbox...an error has occurred".

Thanks again for the help. Any other ideas will be appreciated.

Hey Peter,
Do you know the store folder on the old/slave drive and on the new drive?
What you could do, is first close OE and then move (copy/paste) the
Inbox.dbx file from the slave to the new drive. When you copy it, it will
prolly ask you if you want to replace the existing inbox.dbx file. Say yes.
Then open OE. Voilą! Not such a pretty solution as the import function but
it works.
Note: try this first with some subfolder you create, I mean: right click
Inbox (in OE) and select New Folder. Create a folder called "Test" or
something. Next copy inbox.dbx on the slave drive. Rename the copy
"test.dbx". Move test.dbx to the new drive. You still with me?
;-)

If you can find the folder containing the DBX files on the old hard drive,
copy that folder to your new hard drive in its entirety. Now open Outlook
Express.
Click File/Import/Messages, selecting "OE6" type and "From a Message Store"
and point it to the folder on your new hard drive that contains the DBX
files. Don't make it harder than it has to be. Good luck.

I don't know why. I get my time from a Novell server that is Time Synced
with the National Naval Observatory. I never noticed the difference before.
Current setting are correct. But, I guarantee you I wasn't posting at
4:52AM.

This post came exactly 12 hours in the future. From your message header:

Date: Sat, 4 Jun 2005 21:21:49 -0500

That's Central time, (US), at 9:21 PM tonight, not 9:21 AM. I'd check with
Novell. I'm sure the NNO is not the problem.
