Error msg when sending mail
Hi,
I have the following error message when sending outgoing mails from Outlook
Express. Appreciate any help to resolve this.
"The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'cl2176@singnet.com.sg'.
Subject 'again', Account: 'pop.singnet.com.sg', Server:
'mail.singnet.com.sg', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Access
denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC78"
Thank You,
CL

An SMTP 550 error is usually a result of attempting to relay email through
a server which you are not authorized to use for the purpose of relay.
Check that you have configured your client with the appropriate email
address for sending email.

Dear Miller,
Thks for the replies. I have no problems previously using the same email
address.
There were no major changes except registration of new username account for
msn messenger recently.
Dear Kathy,
The link you mentioned seems a bit too technical. Couldn't follow.
Any further help appreciated. Thks.
rgds,
CL

The link takes you to an explanation of something very similar to what
Norman said. You don't need to change your email address, try
configuring the outbound server to send via your ISP and see if that
works?

Hi,
I think I have found out the problem.
The outlook express was first used in a different country. The problem
started when I move to another country with a different IP address logged on!
Now I am back to my original country and no more problems!
This is the info I got from a link to "fishermun" in another thread from
Kath I think.
"Most ISPs configure their SMTP servers to recognize only those whose IP
address is on the accepted list, meaning that you are connected directly to
that ISP. "
But question now is how can I configure the SMTP to accept the IP that I am
using when I am in a different country?

CL

The settings for the SMTP server is provided by whoever you are
connected with at that time.
You can usually check via the webpage of the provider.
My ISP is Freeserve. But this email address I am using is
kathadams@(nospam)mvps.org
I therefore use the above email address but configure my settings to
send via smtp.freeserve.net
(I receive via mvps.org - my POP3 server.) If I change my ISP to British
Telecom then my server settings would change to (say)
smtp.btinternet.com
Hope that helps?
