Corrupted Address Book?

When I try to send emails, I get an error message stating 'one of the
recipients was rejected by the server'. (An email to an address NOT in my
address book is sent successfully.) Receiving mails is no problem. I looked
in 'Help and Support' and the symptoms seem to be those of a corrupted
address book. The solution is to rename the .wab file and to download the
information from the XP disc. My problem is I do not have a disc. My
computer came with Windows XP already installed. Can I download this
information from somewhere else (i.e. Microsoft site) or can anyone help me
with this problem. I would be grateful if the reply is not too technical as
I am a bit thick where computers are concerned!

Thanks for your reply, but I am afraid it did not work. My messages still
could not be sent in any of the Directory Services. Any other suggestions
please?

Just doublechecking: You *unchecked* "Check names against this service when
sending mail" wherever you found it checked?

Post the complete error message. Example:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by
the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'x@isp.com'. Subject 'xxxxxxxx',
Account: 'mail.xxx.net', Server: 'out.xxx.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '554 <x...@xxxxxxxxx.net>: Recipient address rejected: Relay
access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

My error message is the same as the one you wrote until you get to:

'Server response '550 Relay not permitted/No such user' Port 25 Secure
(SSL) No, server error 550 Error No 0x8000CCC79'.

So, only slightly different.

I tried sending the mails with it checked and unchecked on each of the
services.

The error message you quoted is unlikely to be an error concerning your
address book.
See this link for help.
