just turned on my new laptop, set up Outlook express...DL'd all of the
Windows update files that were required..and cannot send email!
I can recieve email fine.. but I get this error on sending email.

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'test',
Account: 'pop-server.nyc.rr.com', Server: 'smtp-server.nyc.rr.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Called my ISP..they said all was OK on their end..
I'm hooked wirelessly with my laptop to a Linksys router..Model befw11s4 v3

I have disabled email scanning with my AV... avast home ...

Any ideas?

Hi Frank,

You are correct that the error can be caused by the use of A/V message scan.
Have you tried re-entering your password? It may also be necessary to
re-enter your user name.
