Can't open OUT box

I have plenty of experience with email but I am not an OE user. I am
attempting to understand in order to help a remote colleague who uses
OE6.
I am unable to get to the OUT box with my installed version.
Version 6.00.29002180(xpsp-sp2-rtm.040803-2158)
If I click on the triangle against ON BOX I get a drop down menu which
lists the outbox amongst other items.
If I move the cursor over this menu it disappears.
Any help appreciated.

OE lists all default folders under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.
It's not quite clear what you are seeing. Presumably "ON BOX" is a
typo/spelling mistake?

Yes my fingers should have typed IN BOX. The list that you describe
does appear but equally disappears as soon as the cursor touches it.

Your current identity may be damaged. Create a new, named identity, and
configure your email account/s in it. When all seems well, use
File>import to get your mail into the new Identity before deleting the
old one. File>identities>add new identity.
