Problem with newsgroups

I have posted a message to a newsgroup on another server (not
msnews.microsoft.com) and it does not appear, even after synchronising the
newsgroup and waiting a reasonable length of time.

But if I do a 'find' on the newsgroup, I discover that my message has been
posted successfully. Again, if I look down the entire list of messages that
have been posted on the same day, my message is not shown on the list!

Can anyone explain what is going on and how to make my message visible on
the list when it has apparently been posted successfully.

With thanks,

Gerry

The completeness implied by that statement really depends on your
settings and what exactly your "entire list" looks like.

Even when your view is Show All Messages you may be fooled
for example if you have Group Messages by Conversation on
(i.e., you are looking at a threaded view of your message list)
AND you have (Read option) Automatically expand grouped messages
unchecked (i.e., replies and messages which reuse a Subject
are hidden until you click on a thread's [+] control.)

A common example of the above is somebody who posts with a
non-specific Subject can find his post buried inside the unexpanded
list of grouped messages headed by previous unrelated posts
because he unknowingly reused an existing Subject.

Thanks for this. This seems to be what has happened. The message has been
'grouped' with other messages with the same subject.
