Hello:
I seemed to start having this problem this am. I can download messages but
several of them have this:
Outlook Express encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plenty of disk space and low memory is not the issue. any suggestions?
thank you

let me also add that when I restarted the computer, no joy. Also. I am able
to read my thread on the msnews.microsoft.com but unable to read it on the
news.central.cox.net which I used to read it in. I can read other news
though. Do not know rhyme or reason.

Hi Berto,
This is an indication that the message store is becoming full or damaged.
The Inbox folder is the likely culprit. The error message is indicative of
message store problems.
Things to Do (in order)
1. In Offline mode Compact All Folders
File | Folder | Compact All Folders
This may be enough for the time being.
2. Move messages in the Inbox to a user created folder or otherwise backup
the messages.
After this do step one.
3. Delete or rename the Inbox.dbx file for your OE identity. Do this with
OE closed.
A new, empty Inbox will be created when OE starts.
DBX files are hidden by default in Win 2000 and Win XP.
Open the Store Folder
Instead of using search the store folder can be opened directly. Each
identity has its own store folder.
a.. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store
Folder.
b.. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
c.. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
d.. Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
e.. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store
folder.
f.. Close Outlook Express before working with the message store files.
Using Keyboard Shortcuts for Transfer of the Folder Path
Courtesy of: Jim Pickering, MVP-Outlook Express
An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.

Hi Berto,
If the problem only involves messages downloaded using the one news account
try a reset.
Tools, Options, Maintenance | Clean up Now
Navigate to the problem account...Reset.
The account can be removed and added back if the reset does not help.

Hello:
Seems like I did what you have asked me, but no joy. Still get the same
message. As you know, I am using OE for the newsreader but I am using
Outlook 2003 for the rest. I cannot see any threads from yesterday on this
one newsgroup. Should I delete the ng? I bette stop here and find out from
the experts. :)

If the problem is just with this newsgroup you will probably have to reset
it.

Hi Berto,
You can try unsubscribing to the group, but it may be necessary to remove
the corresponding DBX file in the message store. Others more knowledgeable
in this area might comment.
You can always delete a news account, then add it back. Headers will need to
be downloaded again -- all marked as unread. Getting back here is as easy as
using a news link. Here is the link to the Microsoft news server and this
group. Save it to a Notepad (text) document for future reference. This
message when highlighted or opened could be saved as a text document from
the File menu.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
Chances are you will not need to use the add new account wizard. OE will use
account details from a previously entered news account such as posting name
and e-mail address -- real or otherwise. Subscribing to at least one
newsgroup will keep the account in the OE news reader. To change the account
details go into the news account's properties. If necessary, use the add new
News account wizard.
The Outlook Newsreader (News -- OE in thin disguise) can be added to the Go
menu of Outlook 2003. That way OE would not have to be (fully) opened to
include the e-mail section.
