Will there be any significant changes from OE 6?

Hopefully they will remove that auto compacting trip every 100 times you
close OE.

Now I have to go to my opinion:

It will be part of Longhorn and will be ported to WinXP SP2, but maybe not
right away

IE7 won't include an 'OE7' per se but we have been told that some fixes for
OE6 SP1 will be forthcoming this year, at least for WinXP SP2.

Longhorn will include a new Mail Client but it won't be named Outlook
Express nor will it have DBX file structure.

The article in ITWEEK about 3 months ago said that M$ has changed its mind and will release Internet Explorer version 7 (incidentally this also includes OE) late this year and will be available for Windows XP as well. At first the plans were not to supply anything to XP users (so that they all buy longhorn) but it has now changed its mind for fear of being accused to ignoring the needs of XP users so soon.

Basically correct, but only to WinXP SP2. And we are promised that it won't
be called outlook Express, but they don't know yet what the name will be.
And I firmly believe that my knowledge is at least as good as the magazines.

If there's to be an OE7 included with IE7, it's news to me. (Wouldn't be
the first time the IE and OE teams led us down the garden path.)

We'll prolly see a further update or two for OE6 SP1 in WinXP SP2, but it
won't be an upgrade to OE7. These updates will include some of the stuff
fixed in Mail Client Formerly Known as OE in Longhorn but it won't include
all of them and OE will still be based on DBX files outside of Longhorn.

It would be shame not to supply Windows XP SP2 users with new mail client.
Allready I see many people switching to Thunderbird, but if this is true.....
