AddressBook cannot Import

Never happen before. Lately I found my address book in Outlook Express disappeared.
Instead, another address (which my Bluetooth saved from hand phone "contacts" in hard disk) occupied under Shared Contact, the Main Identity's Contacts is blank.
I try many times to import new address book from files I saved before. Every time it prompt "the import process successfully", but nothing show in the Address Book. The old address book remains there. Why?
I thought because I have Outlook in system. But after I uninstalled it, still no change. Headache.
Please help.

Hi Chong,

Can you open both address books at once and view them side by side? If so you can simply drag and drop contacts between the address books.

Open your Address Book and go to Tools | Options.
Uncheck the option to share with Outlook.

Dear Margaret,
Thanks. Good idea! I use this D&D often in Windows and Office particular. But it dose not work exactly.
I am able to open current addressbook with OE, open another addressbook file I stored. It is unable to drag folder Main Identity or Shared Contact into said current addressbook.
But I am able to "select all" , copy email address from addressbook file and paste into Shared Contact folder; one by one, not once at all.
I also tried to paste into Main Identity folder (also one by one) but nothing appear in the end. That I don't understand.
Any idea? What is the reason?
Regards.

Hi Chong,

One thing you can try is renaming the current default Windows Address Book
(keeping the .wab extension)(see Help | About for the path). A new address
book will be created when Outlook Express starts. Then try importing entries
from the renamed address book or the backup address book.

I've put together some tips at the page below.

Do you have this Registry key?...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software
\Microsoft
\WAB
\WAB4

If not, STOP; If so, is there a DWORD named UseOutlook and is its value set to 1 (one)?

If not, STOP; If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with Outlook, even if you don't use it/have it installed (can happen with the install of Office). Change the value to 0 (zero), Address Book should be available to you and all should be well. (If that DWORD is not present, don't create it, and don't alter any other DWORD values.)

Note that any changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing was enabled will not be available (displayed) in Address Book when sharing is disabled.

Thank you to Paul and PA Bear. I agree both suggestion and solution is correct and accurate one.
But I can't do it, because I am not good in edit Registry key. Long time ago win.ini and system.ini is easy to play, not now.
Any other DirectWay?
Now the situation is:
Unable to import AddressBook into Main Identity's Contacts. That folder is totally blank.
I can only copy and paste address into under Shared Contacts folder.
I can also add a new folder (I name as 050525) under Main Identity's Contacts, and add new address.
But if I do it under Main Identity's Contacts; after edit when I try to save; nothing appear in the folder.
Please assist. Thank you.

Sorry but the only way you can disable sharing of Address Book contacts with
Outlook is via the Registry hack, Chong.
