Could somebody tell me out to configure my outlook express such that I can
type on my English keyboard but output Russian characters so that I can
write Russian to overseas friends. Is this even possible with OE? Or do I
need some form of conversion product?

also how should I configure OE such that I can receive Russian text ie
Cyrillic properly?

any help will be greatly appreciated. If I should be asking this in another
newsgroup please advise.

TIA

Hi shockwaveriderz,

You'd likely need a 3rd-party program to accomplish the feat. You might
check with an Office or Outlook group to see what's possible there -- if
you're willing to go that route.

A Google search for "english russian translation" will provide some options,
free and otherwise.

I'm assuming that you can read and write Russian.

- How to Type International Characters on an English Keyboard

- How To Use the United States-International Keyboard Layout in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306560
- How To Add and Enable Additional Languages in Windows 2000 and NT4

- How to Enable Support for Multiple Languages in Windows

Make sure that you are using MIME format (Tools, Options, Send, Mail, Plain Text Setting,
MIME). When composing, make sure to select Tools, Format, Encoding and a suitable
Cyrillic encoding.

Is your friends are sending in MIME format, it should display OK in your end. If not,
look in Tools, Options, Read, International Settings and make sure that you have Not
selected a Default encoding which would override the encoding that they used.

Please, specify your question - I am afraid (because used to get couple
of such letters) that you are asking about non-existing feature.

So please let us know - do you know Russian language? Can you write
in Russian in say MS Word?

If so then you just need to do simple tune-up for Outlook Express:
