The Office 97 install with Outlook hosed the way OE is integrated into XP.

We have an application that generates an email which used to open an Outlook
Express email window with and RTF attachment.

Now after someone installed office 97 we have a problem with a Choose
Profile dialog opening up that only have a Microsoft Outlook profile. I
would like to get back to Outlook Express default configuration, but would
like to leave Office 97 on this particular machine. Outlook 97 is unused.

We have tried to run the command line of msimn.exe /reg or what ever it was.
It did allow the remedy of changing the default mail client option, but does
not eliminate the Outlook Profile dialog.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This machine is XP SP2 and IE/OE 6.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm

Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.

If that isn't enough, see this article:
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:

You might also want to try this:

Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
