Cannot Forward Attachments

Can receive e-mail but cannot "forward" or "send" any messages containing
graphics or attachments. I always get the OE Error Message - Your STMP server
has timed out - Am on SBC yahoo (isp) (only thing available). They don't
have a solution. I have tried disabling AV, increasing my "time out"
setting. I am fairly inexperienced and don't know what to try next.

Is this a sudden, new problem, granna, or an ongoing one? In other words,
have you ever been able to forward or send messages containing attachments
or graphics embedded in the body of a message?
What version of Windows are you running? If WinXP, is SP2 installed?

I am running XP & Yes I have installed SP2. This is an ongoing problem only
because this is a new computer. Previously had Win98 on old computer and all
was well. NOW I can't seem to get anything to work correctly!

What anti-virus application do you have installed (e.g., Norton AntiVirus
2002)?
Your current Identity may have been damaged by your anti-virus app's
scanning of mail. Try one or more of your mail accounts in a new Named
Identity (File>Identities>Add new identity). Assuming all is well, import
messages from the old Identity before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage
Identities).
To avoid such corruption in future:
Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.
Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

I will put this advice into action. May take a little longer since I am a
novice. Will let you know how this helps as soon as I get these steps in
place.
Thanks
