Most likely a temporary glitch. I have been accessing my free MSN Hotmail
account with MS Outlook Express since before Sept. 24, 2004; the magic
cutoff date for such access.

That is not true for Yahoo! in North America. To use any yahoo.com account
with MS Outlook Express requires paying Yahoo! an annual fee of $19.99. The
following are the only mail services which I have which can be used with MS
Outlook Express free of charge:

GMail (still needs invites, nearly as I can tell).
GMX Mail (you need a modicum of comprehension of German to navigate the
mail pages).
MyRealBox (currently not accepting new subscriptions, last time that I
checkd).

Free SMTP/POP3/IMAP/HTTPMail access with clients is becoming rare; at least
in the U.S.

Things can always get worse.

I received an email from hotmail a while back, which said it was in the process of removing POP3 service from FREE hotmail accounts. I guess hotmail is trying to garner more customers for its pay service, which took a big fall when almost all features were expanded in the FREE service to compete with Gmail and Yahoo Mail. The above might be the problem. Or, if there's corruption, you might try deleting, and then recreating the account in Outlook Express...

Norman:

GMXMail can only be registered if you live in Germany right now.
Just came from their website.

Harry.
